Goodwood

Sport & Leisure, Chichester

Goodwood is a 12,000-acre estate on the South Downs north of Chichester, owned by the Duke of Richmond. The estate encompasses a racecourse that hosts the prestigious Glorious Goodwood meeting each July, a motor circuit that stages the Festival of Speed and the Revival, a golf course, a hotel, and extensive farmland. The Festival of Speed, held on the hillclimb course in the estate grounds, is one of the largest motoring events in the world. The Goodwood Revival recreates the atmosphere of 1940s to 1960s motor racing on the original circuit. Goodwood Racecourse, perched on the Downs with views to the sea, is widely regarded as one of the most attractive racecourses in Britain. The estate is a major employer and economic driver for the Chichester district.
