The pub is one of the most prominent on the main streets and benefits from its position near the cathedral and Market Cross. Food and drink are served throughout the day. The building is Grade II listed and has been through various ownership changes, but it remains a recognisable landmark on the western approach to the cross. The interior has been modernised but retains a sense of the building's history.
